Patients often want to know what are the steps of a blepharoplasty in my Denver office. Here are the basic steps laid out so patients will know.

Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty

1. Patient is sedated

2. Eyelid is numbed with numbing shot

3. Eyelid is marked

4. Skin is removed

5. Fat is also removed medially (towards the nose).

6. Skin is Closed

Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty

1. Patient is sedated

2. Eyelid is numbed with numbing shot

3. Eyelid is marked

4. Fat is removed through incision inside eyelid

5. Fat is repositioned to the tear trough

6. Skin is tightened and removed

7. Skin is closed

If both the upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty is performed, the uppers are done first and the lowers are done. I usually perform the eyelid surgery first before performing a facelift, eyebrow lift or laser procedure.

There are variations that are performed such as Park Z-plasty in Asian blepharoplasty or Brow suspension in male patients with low eyebrows. That being said, these are the basic steps for cosmetic eyelid surgery that I perform as an eyelid specialist. Hope that helps!
